Life can take many turns: One day you feel you have reached the top of the mountain, another you feel stuck in a deep valley with no way out. Sometimes, life’s trials and tribulations leave you feeling there is no one around to help you; you feel your questions go unanswered; you wonder why this happens to you. The Diaz family personifies the struggle to deal with the many turns one experiences in life but also the work you can do to overcome obstacles. Love and dedication as a family along with our faith continues to help us to be successful in the daily challenges.
When Isabel Diaz was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome it brought confusion and fear in our family. Not knowing what to expect or how to deal with Isabel’s defect was unsettling. It took the strength of our family to come together as one unit, one mind and one spirit to help Isabel overcome this unexpected diagnosis. We soon received an answer through our faith when God spoke clearly to us and said, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) We were quickly reminded that God knows all things and He will use the institution of the family to help its members overcome challenges.
Eleven years later Isabel continues to work hard each day together with her family with the belief that she will continue to live a productive life. Isabel’s perseverance and family support has given this and other families hope that together they can overcome anything. Through the is able foundation we want to extend a helping hand to other families as well. With our resources and programs we hope that families can utilize what we have to offer to help maximize their child’s potential.
